On Saturday, November 19th we celebrated Sarah Taylor's 1st birthday with an Auburn tail-gating style party. We took so many pictures that I decided to break it up into 2 parts- food/decorations and then the party itself. : )
All I can say is, thank God for pinterest! ha! It's become mine and my sister's favorite past time, and we came up, or actually my sister came up with all of the cute ideas that you are about to see. And she made all of them too! I can't take any credit whatsoever for the cute stuff.
The party favors were one of my favorite ideas that we saw on pinterest. I got the popcorn containers for 2/$1 at Dollar Tree and my sister made the pennants out of scrapbook paper and stickers. We filled each favor with play doh, ring pops, a football brownie, tootsie pops, a whistle, and some fruit snacks.
I think we made 26 favors in all. Thank you Mom and Amy!!
The ribbon topiaries were my favorite part of the table decorations. My sister made these as well by cutting ribbon in little strips and placing them on a green foam ball (I don't know what they're called) and used straight pins to pin them in place. Super cute, huh?!
I had a friend of mine from school make the burlap banner. Go Tigers!
I wanted there to be some kind of activity that both kids and adults could do outside (the high was 67 that day), so we borrowed cornhole from our good friends Hal and Wes. Thanks guys!
We also borrowed a life-size jenga set. Most of the kids spent their time rolling down the hill in the grass though. Whatever floats their boat!
The plan was to make the green icing look like grass but I couldn't quite get it to look the way I wanted. I thought these would do. : )
I stressed over where to buy the cake. I wanted to order from Edgar's (YUM!) but it was going to be very expensive, so I ordered from Publix instead and got the smash cake for free! I was pretty pleased and thought they did a good job.
Yes, we even made Auburn pasta. I couldn't resist!
I wanted to display her "watch me grow" pictures from month 1-12 in some way on the table, so I bought these tigers and footballs at Hobby Lobby for $.67 and hot glued a clothes clip to the back. Worked like a charm!
Goldfish for the little ones...
The menu consisted of Chick-fil-A nuggets, cocktail smokies, mini corn dogs, spinach dip, loaded baked potato dip, m&m's, pasta salad, goldfish, fruit skewers, cupcakes, cookies, and cake.
Believe it or not, we didn't have a lot of food left!
Next up, opening presents and smash cake time!
